In general, you should rotate your tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles or every 6 to 8 months.
A timing belt should be routinely changed, just like the engine filter or other similar car parts. Now that technology has improved, timing belts don’t need to be changed as often as in previous decades, but you should still book an appointment to replace the belt between 60,000 and 100,000 miles.
The Service Engine Soon light is typically pointing to minor changes that your vehicle needs, like a service you would get done during routine maintenance. On the other hand, the Check Engine light typically points to more serious damage under the hood, such as powertrain troubles.
Pull over and shut off the car. Allow the engine to cool for at least 15 minutes. Keep an eye on the temperature gauge. It should move back to a normal range as the engine cools. While you’re waiting (and watching the gauge), put together a plan to get your overheated engine checked out. Call a friend, a tow truck, or Hansens Auto for help.
Carefully remove the broken or blown fuse from its slot. You can use your fingers to do this but dont apply too much pressure. You dont want to break the fuse and cut yourself. Head to your local auto parts store to purchase the replacement fuse (if you havent already). Make certain the replacement fuse has the same amperage and replace it in the slot. Dont use different amperage.
You should get your oil changed every 3,000 miles or as recommended in your vehicles owners manual.
To maintain a good electrical connection, experts recommend having battery terminals and cables cleaned periodically. Technicians might also check the clamp or bolt that fits near the battery post, as these surfaces should be clear of dust and corrosion to function properly.
In the past, replacing the fuel filter was recommended every 20,000 30,000 miles. However, with improvements to fuels and today’s vehicles, filters can be replaced every 60,000 miles. Be sure to consult your vehicle manual or speak to a trusted mechanic to determine the ideal time to replace your fuel filter.
The recommended interval for changing spark plugs depends on the vehicle and its manufacturer, but a general rule of thumb is that they should be replaced after about 100,000 miles.
